DZSÁMI – A BELVÁROSI PLÉBÁNIATEMPLOM KIÁLLÍTÁSA

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

DEAR VISITOR,

The future is full of hope. Hope that preserves eternal values in the relics of the millennial heritage of Pécs. Hope that discovers beauty, and admires the architectural and fine-art works of our talented, zealous ancestors. With a quotation of the Prophet Jeremiah, I invite you to the Parish Church of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin, one of the most magnificent Ottoman monuments of our country, an outstanding example of Turkish-Islamic architecture, a Catholic church of great importance in the Diocese of Pécs.

Upon entering, at a scene where East meets West, you can learn about how the appearance of the church changed through the years, by using modern equipment, exciting interactive features, and animations. In the real space, a virtual illustration will aid you in discovering the erstwhile church space – its architectural hallmarks, furnishings, and fine and applied art works – as revealed by archaeology and art history research. You can explore a setting where different religions enrich each other and remember that ultimately, spiritual and material wealth reflects the richness of Divine Wisdom of the one Who is the centre of the Church’s faith and life.

I am delighted that you have come to visit today, and we welcome you at all our exhibition venues!
